Buying a Citroen Ami 8 in France from madame Lemaire

Back in 2004, the internet wasn't that popular for finding vintage cars yet. I found a nice Ami 8 Berline in the color Bleu Pétrel in Paris on a French website Anciennes.net.

The car belonged to Madame Lemaire. She got it as a present from her late husband in 1976. In 2004, Madame Lemaire's daughter found her then 85-year-old mother too old to drive the car and convinced her to sell it.

I got in contact via email, and with a friend, we drove to Paris in my own Ami 8. We bought the baby blue Ami and drove the 550 kilometers back to Holland without any problems with the car. Some time later, around 2005 I think, I sold it to a friend. I still regret it; it was the best driving Ami 8 I have ever owned.

Here I am, posing next to the car with Madame Lemaire and her daughter. And ta picture at a pit stop on the drive home.
