Oops, I bought a 2CV

In between model

What have i done? As if i don't have enough cars yet. I bought a 2CV that I have known for a long time. It once belonged to a friend of mine in France. And now it's mine after about 22 years I layed eyes on it for the first time. It's a 2CV AZ from january 1963. It the "in between" model; just after the 12bhp an before the big step to the 18bhp model. It has suicide doors, but the big rippled bonnet. It has the new dashboard and wipers, but not all the luxury of the AZAM that came later. It's pretty basic, and I like it very much.

Knocking noise

A friend of mine moved to France around 2000. After living there for a while, he traded his Dutch Subaru Justy for a 2CV with a local. He started driving it in summer, but after a while, some knocking sound made him stop driving it. One summer i visited him and saw the 2CV for the first time. I drove it to asses what was going on with the noise. The car was driveable, but it was a weird, but not too alarming sound near or in the clutch/gearbox. Since it was a car with a centrifugal clutch i suspected one of the friction plates maybe got loose or something. There was no time to repair it. My holiday came to an end and the 2CV was parked in the garden.

Get her on the road

A while later my friend suggested he wanted to get rid of it. My girlfriend in that time came up with a trade; you get a computer, I get the 2CV. The deal was made and the 2CV came to Holland where it was stored. For years and years, awaiting resurrection. After we broke up years later, my girlfriend wanted to get rid of it. I had no money to pay her, so she sold it to a friend. And again the 2CV was in storage for years. And now finally i bought it from him. It is time to get her on the road once again. On this website I will write about this process and show some pictures as well. Hell, maybe some movies even.
