First big test drive to Reims
To truly put the rear suspension overhaul to the test, I took the GS on a yearly tradition: a trip to Reims, France, for the 37ème Salon Champenois – Exposition de Véhicules de Collection. Every year, I try to make the journey in one of my classic French cars, and this event never disappoints. It’s a gathering of vintage car enthusiasts, complete with a display of vehicles and a wide range of trade shops catering to classic car owners. One of the highlights is simply walking through the parking lot, where you’ll find an incredible mix of old gems.
Some pictures of the event; Peugeot 403, lots of parts and my GS alongside other classics
The GS performed flawlessly throughout the trip, and the suspension felt great—noticeably softer than before. It even brought back a classic characteristic: a slight downward dip at the rear under acceleration from a stoplight. Over the course of more than 1,000 kilometers, the car consumed only around 0.1 liters of oil. Pretty good i would say.
Overall, it was another fantastic visit to Reims, made even better by the smooth ride of the GS. Looking forward to next year!
